What Does a Cloud Specialist Do?

Cloud Specialists help organizations migrate their information and services to the cloud. They analyze a company's needs and select the most appropriate cloud technology solutions. They analyze opportunities to deploy, optimize, and protect critical applications and data storage. They also manage company data securely across multi-cloud environments. In a smaller organization, the responsibilities of a cloud specialist may be rolled into a more general IT support role. A cloud specialist may also work for an actual cloud service provider, like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud. In this capacity, a cloud specialist is typically responsible for onboarding new clients, troubleshooting and maintaining cloud computing solutions.

What You’ll Learn
IT 7150
Cloud Specialist

"The Cloud" refers to servers accessed over the internet, and the software and databases that run on those servers. Cloud servers are located in data centers all over the world and are connected by the internet. Cloud computing allows users and businesses to run software applications that don’t need to be on their PC or a physical server. This allows files and applications to be accessed from almost any device. Today's businesses cannot run without cloud computing, especially since the increase in remote working since 2020. Cloud computing skills are in such high demand, some analysts have said a career in cloud may be almost futureproof.

The IT-7150: Cloud Specialist program is recommended for beginning IT professionals looking for a starting point or individuals with non-technical backgrounds interested in learning about the cloud to further their careers. Those employed in administrative, management, purchasing, marketing, or financial positions could benefit the most from this program.

This program is designed to provide a foundational pathway towards two key cloud certifications well known throughout the world of IT. Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner are sponsored by two of the leading cloud service providers in the world (Microsoft and AWS). Additionally, students will be prepared with the knowledge and skills needed to take the CompTIA Cloud+ exam, which is considered the most in-demand cloud certification in the market today.

Virtual Labs are included throughout this program! There is no substitute for hands-on training. Several courses within this program have integrated access to a cloned virtual machine environment where skills learned can be tested without having to purchase expensive hardware or dealing with complex set-ups in a RISK-FREE environment. Students will work on the latest technologies, with access to real hardware and software to practice new IT skills and be workplace ready.

Upon completion, MedCerts will sponsor the cost of the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, and CompTIA Cloud+ exams.
